Leader of the Month Q&A: Kamara Willoughby
Posted on 15 May 2017
This month YXU is featuring Kamara Willoughby as our Leader of the Month. Kamara is raising awareness for the Cultivate CDC organization in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood of Columbus, OH and their green space project. A portion of the sales from YXU's 'Ready to Grow" tee during the month of May will go to Cultivate to support their green space initiative.
Q: Why is cultivate important to you?
A: Cultivate is important to me because they like to help others and they do what they say they are going to do. They said they would work with the Milo-Grogan Civic Association and they’ve come in to do just that.
Q: Who are the leaders or mentors that have helped shape you, and what have you learned from them?
A: Amy and Sheldon [from Cultivate] have sat down and helped me to map out what it is I want to do with my career and has connected me to some individuals who can help me as well.
Q: How have you grown as a leader through your experiences with Cultivate?
A: Through Cultivate I was able to learn that they really like to get to know people and learn about them and then try to help them. They like to build relationships with the people that they help.
Q: What would you say to your peers who want to make a difference in their communities, but aren’t sure how to?
If my peers want to make a difference in their community I would say think of what you want to do and find a group or organization that is doing what you want to do and join them in their efforts to help others.
